Community Pool Information for Sept. 25 Meeting
The Fairfield Board of Directors looks forward to hearing from you at the Informational Meeting on Thursday, September 25th, 7pm at the Northland Cathedral. Since this meeting was announced, we have received comments and questions from several homeowners requesting additional information prior to the meeting. The feasibility study, which will be presented on Thursday night, is the result of many months of time and effort spent developing cost estimates, design concepts, and examining the mechanics of building and operating a pool in Fairfield. It contains a significant amount of information which we believe can be best addressed through a presentation Thursday evening.
The feasibility study will be presented in its entirety on Thursday. However, in order to address questions that have been raised, the Board would like to share a few highlights from the study:
- Current estimates indicate the total cost of building a community swimming pool and related facilities would be approximately $385,000.
- After construction is complete, annual dues would need to increase in order to fund pool operations. Dues would likely increase to $300 -- $350 per year. Annual dues are currently $100/year.
- Funding pool construction would require a special assessment on each lot in Fairfield of approximately $2,000, which could be paid in quarterly installments over a period of two years. A special assessment cannot be levied without a vote of the association’s membership at a special meeting at which 75% of those in attendance approve of the special assessment.
- Annual homes association dues cannot be increased without a vote of the association’s membership at a special meeting at which at least 2/3 of those in attendance approve of the increase in annual dues.
We hope you will attend and participate in the Informational Meeting. We anticipate that many homeowners will attend this meeting, and ask for your help in conducting an orderly and efficient discussion by:
- Listing your name and address on a Speaker’s Sheet if you plan on speaking or making a presentation. The Speaker’s Sheet will be available at the registration table.
- Limiting your comments/presentations to three minutes.
- Yielding your opportunity to speak to another homeowner if your question/concern has already been addressed.
- Being courteous to your neighbors and the Northland Cathedral. No raised voices, foul language, or interruptions.
Thanks again, and we look forward to seeing you Thursday night.
