Google Fiber Information
Dear Fairfield Neighbors,
As you may have seen recently at the corner of Cookingham Drive and N Harrison, utility work has begun to lay the infrastructure for Google Fiber - a new provider of internet and TV service that is available in only three cities in the entire country. As a Fairfield homeowner, I wanted to help raise awareness of the significant opportunity that will be available to our neighborhood in March.
What is Google Fiber
- Ultra-fast fiber optic network that provides Internet speeds up to 100x faster than broadband
- Available HD TV service
- Details are available at www.fiber.google.com
Why Should I Care About Google Fiber?
- You can get FREE Internet for at least 7 years!
- Google Fiber increases home values by $2-5k according to Google
- Google Fiber helps the community - Google provides schools, fire/police stations, and other public service providers in qualifying fiberhoods with free installation and free Internet
How Do We Get Google Fiber?
- In March, Kansas City North will be able to start signing up for Google Fiber. Just like in the first wave of sign-ups, Google will divide the areas into small sections called "fiberhoods." In each fiberhood, a certain number of homes will need to sign up for service in order to qualify their area for Google Fiber
- Fiberhoods with the highest percentage of households that sign up during the rally will get priority when Google begins installation of Google Fiber
- Sign up consists of a $10 registration fee made through the Google Fiber website
- There is no commitment to any service plan
What Service Plans Will Be Offered?
- There are three options of service plans:
- Free Internet at broadband speeds - $300 installation fee (or $25/mth for 12 mths) then FREE for at least SEVEN years!
- Gigabit Internet service - up to 100x faster than broadband - No installation fee, $70/mth
- Gigabit Internet + HD TV service (over 150 HD channels) - No installation fee, $120/mth
- Details about the service plans are available at https://fiber.google.com/cities/kansascity/plans/
How Can I Help Fairfield Qualify for Google Fiber?
- Participation in the rally is KEY - we need as many households as possible to sign up
- If our fiberhood doesn't reach the required number of sign ups, Google will NOT install Google Fiber in our area
- Remember - there's no commitment to a service plan
- We need your help educating and rallying our neighbors!
- If you're interested in helping spread the word about Google Fiber during the rally in March please contact:
- Kyle Williams - 907 NE 116th Terrace - kyle_1252002@yahoo.com - 816-261-0940
With your help and participation, we can improve our neighborhood and surrounding community. Even if 100x faster Internet isn't for you, you can save a lot of money by opting for the free Internet plan. Thanks for reading, and we'll see you in March!
